The Caged Wolf

After a brief escape running in chains
The wolf is back in his cage
A cage that he willingly surrenders himself into
Trapped and no where to go
With no where to run
He only got himself to blame
Tearless weeping unheard
Paralyzed, his heart is beyond repair
Only a glimpse of hope that keeps him together
Peeking out his little window
Gazing at constellations
Then closing his eyes
Being in trance with the sound of crickets
Oh how he longs to be in the wild
He doesn’t know how he’ll endure
But he’ll just run
Running freely and as fast as he can
Towards the mountain top
Howling to his victory
With the moon shining behind.
